Pandora’s box is open: Sam, Dario, and Elon all called for frontier AI audits. We cannot deploy models confidently without oversight. To build confidence, we urgently need auditors with frontier AI expertise, incentives that prevent a race to the bottom, and standards for what good audits look like across the industry.

History offers lessons for how to build confidence in new, risky technology. For example, electricity burned down houses until insurers funded Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to certify products against their standards. Today, the UL mark is a trustmark on every light bulb in America. The combination of standards, audits, and insurance creates an incentive flywheel that has taught the world to trust electricity, cars and nuclear power.

AI needs the same kind of infrastructure – this is what we set out to solve with AIUC, alongside frontier builders like Cursor, ElevenLabs, and Harvey.

AIUC-1 is the standard for agents, creating the confidence infrastructure for AI adoption. It tests how well agents hold up against risks such as jailbreaks, hallucinations and data leaks, using 5,000 risk-and-attack combinations unique to each type of business.

We built it together with 250+ security and risk leaders and, today through our consortium, they help shape our product as AI capabilities and risks evolve, as well as drive adoption of AIUC-1 within their organizations.

Companies building the world's most-used agents, including Cursor, ElevenLabs, Harvey, KPMG, Lovable, UiPath and Fin, certify against it. AI that writes production code, drafts legal work, and answers customer calls for millions of people now carry the AIUC-1 trustmark.

Auditors bring centuries of experience in creating assurance – defining access requirements, reviewing evidence, and communicating with trust. Leading auditors complement the technical evals, providing a holistic AIUC-1 assessment.

The road ahead

We’ve raised $40 million Series A led by Ribbit Capital, with participation from First Harmonic. Along with our $15 million seed round from NFDG, this brings our total funding to $55 million. The capital will help extend our audits, standards and insurance from agents to frontier models to create a strong ecosystem for frontier oversight.
